Education is our weapon of choice in the fight against poverty.
Launched in 2010, our SBM Scholarship Scheme aims to provide an opportunity to bright students from low-income households (less than Rs 15,000) to pursue their studies so that they may aspire to a brighter future.
In order to support measures to eradicate absolute poverty in Mauritius, a special consideration is being given to meritorious students who are registered at the Social Register of Mauritius. Special consideration is also given to disabled students and students from Rodrigues Island.
To benefit from this scheme, students should be attending or be admitted to full-time undergraduate courses at post-secondary institutions in Mauritius, recognised by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), or vocational courses at the Mauritius Institute of Training & Development (MITD).
